Happy Dancing! SAL Completed

Good morning everyone,

I have a finished piece to show you today WOOHOO!

Both me and Claire have finished the Friendship Quilt V by Whispered by the Wind, though both of us have significantly changed the original design. That means we have something unique.

You will remember that last time I shared an update I had completed 23 of the 25 blocks. Here is block 24.

So, at last it is done!

At some point in the future I’ll frame it and put it up on the wall 🙂

Next time we’ll be revealing the first stage of our new project. Me and Claire are doing the same project again. I’m so excited to be starting something new and colourful at last.

Please visit the other blogs in the group. Most of us are posting updates some time today and there are many gorgeous projects to enjoy. Simply click on the names below.

Claire, Gun, Carole, Jule, Wendy, LucyAnn, Kate, Cathy, Jess, Jacqui.

Our next group update will be on 15th November. See you then!

SAL Blocks 22 and 23 completed

Good morning everyone,

Here’s the penultimate stage of the SAL I’m doing with a group of other crafters from all over the world. I bet you’ll be as glad me to see the back of this one!

The original chart is by Whispered by the Wind. Claire is doing the same design as me but in a different colourway and she’s also adding some blackwork too.

Here is block 22.

Block 22

Here it is with the rest. You can only see 17 blocks because the other row of five is rolled around the frame. You’ll have to wait until next time to see them all together.

SAL Blocks 20 and 21 Completed

Good morning everyone,

Can you believe another three weeks have passed since the last SAL update? I can’t. It’s already officially Autumn in the northern hemisphere and the apples and berries are falling from the trees. I love the autumn when the colours outside change from every shade of green to rusty reds, orange and yellow. I’ve been looking at my SAL project and it’s full of the colours we are soon to have in the garden.

I’ve now completed block 20. It’s got a sort of twirly thing going on and, as usual, it’s nothing like the designer intended. The original chart is by Whispered by the Wind. Claire is doing the same design as me but in a different colourway.

Block 20

Here it is with the other 19 blocks. This is the last time you’ll see the bottom row until the project is finished because I need to scroll the fabric around the frame and turn to stitch the final row.

Inc. block 20 (2)

Here’s block 21.

Block 21 (2)

Now that the frame has been turned, the other row has disappeared off the top of the photo.

Inc. block 21 (2)

Only four blocks to go now 🙂

Don’t forget to pop over and see what all the other stitchers in the group are doing. There’s some lovely sewing going on. Just click on the names below to visit their blogs. Some will be updating later than others due to time differences.

SAL Blocks 17, 18 and 19 Completed

Hi Everyone,

The last three weeks have flown by once again and it’s time to show the next progress update on my Friendship Quilt V by Whispered by the Wind. Claire is stitching the same design as me and the other ladies in the group are all stitching their own different projects. Some are newly started projects and others have been WIPs for years.

It’s been a very productive few weeks. I managed to stitch three more blocks!

My block 17 doesn’t look very much like the chart. I added some bits and took others out. I also changed the colour positions. No, the more I think about it, I don’t know why I even looked at the chart in the first place. There’s no harm in doing my own thing….is there? I just seem to get carried away sometimes.

Next up is block 18.

Block 19

Here’s all 19 blocks together.

There are only 6 blocks left to sew now, as we agreed on a grand total of 25, and the finish line is in sight. We are hoping to make a run for the finish and show two blocks for each update from now on.

If you want to see what everyone else in the group is up to, just click on the names below. There’s lots of lovely stitching to see.

Most of us are updating today but please allow for time zone differences. Some posts will appear up to 24 hours later than others and some may not update at all until next time.

Enjoy!

Claire, Gun, Carole, Alison, Jule, Elizabeth, Wendy, LucyAnn, Kate, Cathy, Jess, Jacqui.

The next update will be on the 13th of September.

SAL Block 16 Completed

Hi Everyone,

It is time to show you the progress made on my Friendship Quilt V by Whispered by the Wind. Claire is stitching the same design as me in an orange and purple colour combination. Her version is very different to the autumnal colours I’ve chosen but it’s equally gorgeous.  My block 16 is now completed and, for a change, it looks quite like the original chart.

There are only 9 blocks left to sew. It seems to be growing faster now that the halfway mark has passed. I wonder why that always seems to be the case. Here are all 16 blocks together.

The next SAL update will be on the 23rd of August. I had hoped to show you the beginnings of a new project by now but I’m still waiting for yarn that was ordered online on 22nd of June. Hopefully, I’ll be able to share it before the 23rd August!

Have a great Sunday 🙂

SAL Block 14 Completed

Hi everyone,

It’s time to show another update of our progress on various projects. Claire is sewing the same design as me. It is called Friendship Quilt V by Whispered by the Wind. It’s been crazy busy here for several weeks now and I’m so glad I got ahead by a few stages on the SAL so I could just schedule posts well ahead of time.

Here is my latest block.

All of the other stitchers in the group are working on their own exciting projects. There is so much variety! Please pop over to see what they are up to. Just click the names below and the links will take you there. You may also notice that we have another two new members to the group. We have Jess from Ever the Crafter and Jacqui from The Stitching Line. Welcome aboard ladies 🙂 We are now a group of thirteen stitchers. Fun, fun, fun!

If some group members aren’t posting updates today (occasionally they are otherwise engaged), their blogs are still worth a visit anyway and remember that we live all around the world so some posts will appear later than others due to time difference.

If you’d like to join our SAL, send me an email. The address is on the right of this page. There are no rules or deadlines. Just pull out a WIP which has been long forgotten or start a new project to stitch along with us. Actually, it doesn’t even need to be sewing. It might be knitting or crochet or almost anything else. You will need to write a short update post to show your progress every third Sunday, linking to the rest of the group. So, let me know if you want to join in 🙂

Grab a coffee and do some blog hopping.

Claire, Gun, Carole, Alison, Jule, Elizabeth, Wendy, LucyAnnKateCathyJess and Jacqui.

If you want to see what else I’ve been up to recently, take a leap to my other blog Oh Sew Tempting. I’m taking part in a patchwork block swap over at Kate’s lovely blogI’ve already made my blocks in advance for posting in June, July and August and the June parcel is already on its way to The Netherlands.

The next SAL update here will be on the 12th of July 2015. I’ll have to get my skates on for that as I have no more blocks in reserve now.
