Pumpkin House–Stage 5

This is the Pumpkin House cross stitch kit from the Enchanted series by Bothy Threads.

Here’s where I was up to last time.

Stage 4

I continued working down the tree trunk and I’ve now got a witch and her cauldron and some of the ground. I wonder what she’s sprinkling in there?  This is what it looks like now.

Stage 5

I plan to stitch more of the tree and then I’ll see how far I can get along the bottom of the design. I’m hoping to be able to finish in two more updates. There’s still quite a lot to stitch but I feel like I’m on the home straight.

Please visit the other blogs that are taking part in this SAL. Everyone is doing a different project. We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences. We’re posting today at local time. Sadly, we are losing Connie this time.

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.

Stage 3

I continued working down the house so there was a lot more block stitching with some counting as well. This is where I’m up to now.

Stage 4

I plan to stitch more of the tree in time for the next update.

It’s been very easy to stay focussed and get plenty of stitching done this time. I usually try to stick to the SAL project for the first of the 3 weeks but I did a bit more this time.

This is where I’m up to now. The fabric colours in the photo are true this time.

Stage 3

I continued working on the house and hope to do more of the house to show you next time.

Pumpkin House–Stage 2

I’m still working on the Pumpkin House cross stitch kit from the Enchanted series by Bothy Threads.

Pumpkin House 1

I’m having to force myself to put it down and work on other things because it’s a very relaxing project to stitch.

Here’s where I’m up to. The light wasn’t very good for photography so it’s made the background fabric look different this time. The real life colour is shown in the top photo. It looks even more moody today.

I made good progress again. I’ve added another bat, an owl and part of a spooky looking tree. This is as wide as the design gets. I’m going to start stitching under the roof of the house in time for the next update.

Pumpkin House–Stage 1

My new SAL project is a kit that was bought by my dear friend Lin. She’d planned to stitch it herself but realised after completing only a few stitches that her eyes were no longer up to cross stitching. I know how much she loves the design and I can’t see a kit go to waste so I offered to stitch it for her.

It’s called Pumpkin House from the Enchanted series by Bothy Threads. Did anyone guess the theme after my clue last time?

Lin says there’s no hurry to complete this one but it jumped the queue because I was ready for another monochrome project. It’s mostly full crosses and there are a handful of 3/4 stitches, some back stitched details for the webs, metallic silver thread for the moon and some star shaped sequins which will add a bit of sparkle.

Here’s where I’m up to.

Pumpkin House 1

As you can see I’ve made good progress already. It’s all been stitched using 3 strands of black so far which is giving good coverage. The fabric is hand dyed which makes the colours all cloudy and moody.

Bothy Threads kits are really good quality. I’ve made loads of different ones from their range and they never disappoint with lovely threads and very clear charts and instructions.

Next, I’m going to tackle the spooky tree to the left of the roof.
