Hello everyone,
It’s time for another update on the SAL project today. This design is by Ink Circles and it’s called Cirque des Triangles. Here’s where I was up to last time.
Now, all around the edge is completed.
You can’t see the top part because the fabric is wound around my frame but if you want to see the whole thing, click on Claire’s name below. She’s stitching the same design as me without a big frame.
Everyone else in the group is doing something different. Please take a look at how they are progressing with their own chosen SAL project. There’s so much variety of stitching going on in this group. Just click on the names below and you’ll hop over to their blogs. We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences but we post local time, every third Sunday.
Claire, Gun, Carole, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, Linda, Catherine, Mary Margaret, Timothy
Our next updates will be posted on the 6th August 2017. See you then!
About the SAL
This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL. If you’d like to finish a project you’ve left unfinished for a while, or start a new one with us, you can join us by leaving a request in the comments below or sending me an email. The address is on the right of this page. I’ll send you a few simple rules to agree.

/ July 16, 2017It still amazes me how different your version and Claire’s version look, given that it’s exactly the same design. Yours makes me think of delicate wrought iron gates, and hers looks like gilt-embossed leather. Both fab!
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017Maybe I’ll make another version on dark fabric one day….or maybe with white thread on marbled sea green and turquoise aida.

/ July 16, 2017Oooh, sounds gorgeous!

/ July 16, 2017Oh my, what a design, you can’t have a stitch out of place on this one, super.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017It’s actually quite easy because most of the sections are symmetrical.

/ July 16, 2017Everytime I see this I’m tempted to try one, I’ll add it to my ever lengthening to do list 🙂 Are you using a DMC thread?
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017Great. I’m using DMC 4030.

/ July 16, 2017You have both joined up, it amazing to see the same design in different colour ways looking so different.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017Looking forward to a finish now.

/ July 16, 2017I have to do something with that thread. Every update, I am in love with the way the colors turn. You guys are winding down to the finish I think.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017There’s probably three more stages. The centre is quite stitch intensive.

/ July 16, 2017I was guessing 2-4, with all that white space. Looking forward to it!
Cindy
/ July 16, 2017Great progress. The thread is so beautiful and gets more so with every stitch.

/ July 16, 2017Love both yours and Claire’s, what a difference colour can make.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ July 16, 2017Exactly, I’m pleased we didn’t both do the same colours. I’m enjoying watching Claire’s grow just as much as mine.
