Highlands Landscape – Stage 6

It’s almost the end of March already! Our clocks went forward by an hour this weekend which means we’ll have lighter evenings and more time in the daylight to enjoy being out in the garden. I can’t remember the last time we had so many consecutive sunny days. Spring is definitely here.

Here’s another update on the Highlands Landscape. This is where I was up to last time.

Stage 15

I continued to stitch in my usual fashion along the bottom but needed to roll the fabric further up. That means the top won’t be visible again until it’s off the frame.

Stage 16

One section at a time. More thistles and grass.

Stage 17 This is where I’m up to now.

Stage 18There’s still one more row to stitch in the foreground but it’s only 90 x 22 stitches instead of 90 x 30. That’s still a lot of stitching so I’m going to make the last of the crosses my target for the next update and then the final stage will be the back stitched detail, two stages from now. It should be finished some time in May.

Highlands Landscape – Stage 5

It’s time to show you another update on the Highlands Landscape. Here’s where I was up to before.

Stage 12

Last time, several readers commented that it looks finished. I have to agree that the design could’ve been framed at this stage and, if I hadn’t been enjoying stitching this one so much, I could’ve just done the backstitch and called it done. However, there’s more…

Stage 13   and more…

Stage 14

and this is where I’m up to now.

Stage 15

That’s 5/7 of the cross stitching finished. Then there’ll be some back stitching to do.

Please take a look at the latest SAL project updates from the rest of the group by clicking the links below. Welcome aboard our two new members Laura and Cathie! I’m looking forward to seeing which project they’ve chosen for the SAL. Linda is also rejoining us this time. Welcome back Linda! We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences. Posting takes place every third Sunday, local time. Our next updates will be posted on the 29th March 2020.

About the SAL

This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL. If you’d like to finish a project you’ve left unfinished for a while, or start a new one with us, you can join us by sending me an email. The address is on the right of this page. I’ll send you a few simple rules to agree.
