It’s time for another SAL update. I’m stitching one of the Roll Your Own designs from Ink Circles. This one is from Mandala Set 1.
This is where I got up to last time.

Here is where I’m up to now.

I’ve stitched the inner edge of the border and didn’t make any counting errors. I checked each time I came to a corner and also at the middle of the sides to make sure everything was lining up. Can see how the centre flower/cross pattern is going to fit all the way round? I think it should be a bit quicker to stitch the rest of the black outline because the positioning has been done but I reckon the bit I’ve finished is only about one quarter of the black stitching in the border. I’m enjoying stitching and would like to have the black finished for next time.
Merry Christmas if you celebrate it. I’ll see you all again in 2023!

About the SAL
Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.

/ December 11, 2022The border is going to really set it off. Perfect counting and stitching.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022I think so too. Just plodding along in between other things and it’s growing.

/ December 11, 2022Congrats on avoiding any counting errors. I can’t see where this border comes from in the pattern, but I am think it looks great so far.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022Maybe I’ll take an inbetweeny photo so you can see it. I must admit I kept looking at it and wondering how the next bit would fit.

/ December 11, 2022Well done ! It’s making great progress
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022Thank you. Even though there’s much more black stitching left in the border I think it’ll be quicker to stitch now that the positioning is done.

/ December 11, 2022I’m impressed with your counting prowess! I can’t seem to count to 4 consistently. This is lovely now and it’s going to be beautiful when done.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022I could probably get past 4 LOL. I had to check against the centre of all the sides and the corners as I stitched and wouldn’t have been a happy bunny if I’d needed to frog.

Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022It does but it’ll all come together I hope.

/ December 11, 2022A counting queen no less! It’s going to be wonderful. Are the colours going to be similar to those in the centre?
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022My plan is to colour some the same as the centre (maybe the middle one on each side or the corners) and then I’ll try to colour the others in a similar way but with the shades rearranged. Maybe some with mostly purples and others with mostly blues.

/ December 11, 2022This is coming along nicely – I don’t know how you have the patience for all the counting. Aah – Christmas and 2023 already – where does the time go?
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022Give me a chart and I’m happy. Ask me to apply my non-existent artistic talent and I’d give up very quickly. This year has flown by!

/ December 11, 2022This is so gorgeous. I am in awe you did that border without a counting mistake!
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ December 12, 2022I can’t actually believe it myself but there were plenty of places to check all the way round.
