Woodland Sampler – Stage 10

It’s time for another SAL project update.  I’m stitching the Woodland Sampler by Anchor. The design number is PCE958.

This is where I was up to last time.

Stage 9b

This is where I’m up to now.

I’ve filled the gaps in the greenery and the rest of the fox cub. There’s some backstitching to do which I think will make the fox look even more cute. I intend to do the backstitched detail on the fox and leaves next and then there’s a couple of easy patches of sky to complete. Then it’ll be back to greenery again.

Please check out what everyone else has been up to by clicking their names below. We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences. Posting takes place every third Sunday, local time. Our next  updates will be posted on the 28th November 2021.

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.

That fox is adorable even without the backstitching. I am immersed in backstitching right now. Sometimes loving it and other times really hating it. Enjoy your stitching.

    • I finished back stitching on this section last night but I’ve used my own judgement as to whether some of it was really necessary and didn’t stitch 100%. I don’t see the point of backstitching with one thread in the same colour as the crosses under it for example. I’m happy to do it if it makes a difference.

I agree with Cathie J, the fox is adorable. He will look even more so when totally completed. I love the owl too.

  11. Wow! You made excellent progress on that very cute fox. Not being a cross-stitcher I can only imagine how difficult it is to get the fine detail just right.
