Paddy’s Cove – Stage 3

It’s time to share an update on the Paddy’s Cove cross stitch. Designer credits are here. This is where I was up to last time. The left hand side of the design area was all finished.

Stage 2

I’ve now completed the bottom right quarter. It’s growing fast 🙂

Stage 3

If all goes to plan I’ll be Happy Dancing next time. There’s nowhere near as much to stitch in the top right quarter but the back stitching details might pose a bit of a challenge. I’ll think about that when I get there.

Please check out what everyone else has been up to by clicking their names below. We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences. Posting takes place every third Sunday, local time. Our next updates will be posted on the 2nd August 2020.

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.

  1. I’d wondered what was on the right side as it looked complete as it was, but that looks fabulous. You do pick such lovely designs to stitch 🙂

  2. You are making great progress. The back-stitch is what makes everything pop. I usually love to work on it, because I know I am near the end and the picture comes alive.

    • Yes, I usually enjoy back stitching too. I’m going to have to think a bit with this one because I’m going to change it but I’m determined to have it done for next time 🙂

  4. This looks beautiful, I definitely like the colours as they work so well together. Gives it a watercolour feel along with how it’s designed.

    • Thank you Carmela 🙂 I’m loving watching your sampler grow. The corner motif you just stitched would make a lovely birthday card. The Echeveria flower is stunning!

  10. One of the delightful things about this piece is how the much of the sea and vegetation is left to the visual imagination. My eye has room to wander through the scene. I agree about the watercolour feel to it. I wonder if it based on an Irish coastline?

    • You could be right about the location but I’m not sure the lighthouse looks very Irish. The kit is American so my guess is North America if it exists at all. I like the designer’s watercolour style too 🙂

  11. I love how light and airy this piece is — and you’re really motoring along! (Should have said sailing along, I think!) I also love backstitching — it’s like putting my glasses on and bringing everything into focus.

  14. So beautiful!!! Hubby and I have gotten into trying to visit all the lighthouses around our state. We haven’t visited many, so far. COVID put a damper on travel plans this summer. I would love to visit your lighthouse and spend the day watching the boats on the water.

    • I love the fresh air by the sea. I can stand on the cliffs near my house for hours watching the kittiwakes soaring around. I live a couple of hundred yards from our local lighthouse so I can understand your fascination with them. I hope you can get out and about again soon and see more.

  17. Wonderful progress Avis. Sorry about my post which I did the Wednesday before SAL Sunday, and this is the first time I have been out of bed since lol. I am feeling a lot better now than I did then, and hope i can make some progress and sort out my problem before the next SAL xxx

    • No need to apologise at all Helen. I think several of the members have been having problems with the photos lately. You must’ve been feeling rotten to have taken to your bed for so long. I’m going to send you an email in a few minutes 🙂
