Hello everyone,
Time for another update on my SAL project called Getting Ready. It’s from a kit by Design Works and the picture is part of an artwork by Ronald West.
This is where I was up to last time.
The lady now has a head! No backstitch detail yet. I’ll complete that once the top of this square section has been done.
We’re welcoming Connie back to the SAL this time. Please pop over to say hello and hop around the rest of the lovely blogs by clicking the names below. There’s a lot of really lovely stitching going on. We live all over the world so you’ll need to allow for time differences. Posting takes place every third Sunday local time.
Our next updates will be posted on the 9th September 2018. Where is this year going?

About the SAL
This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL. If you’d like to finish a project you’ve left unfinished for a while, or start a new one with us, you can join us by leaving a request in the comments below or sending me an email. The address is on the right of this page. I’ll send you a few simple rules to agree.

Sewing Beside the Sea
/ August 20, 2018I think the next update will be the penultimate one and then I’ll make a run for the finish line 🙂

/ August 19, 2018Nice to see Madame emerging at last. It can’t possibly be much longer now, you’ve made a lot of progress.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ August 20, 2018I think I’ll be done in six weeks time. Then I’ll start something new. I’ve already chosen which project so that’s a good motivator.

/ August 20, 2018I think I’ll be taking a short break from the SAL after I’ve finished the cushion. I don’t have a plan for a new project (at least, not yet), and my arthritis is playing up a fair bit, so it’s the perfect opportunity to stop for a little while.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ September 8, 2018That’s no problem at all. You know what works best for your hands. We’ll be sad to lose you 😦

/ August 19, 2018Some excellent progress Avis, I’m sure the lady finds writing less difficult now that she has a head! Add the arm and she will be cruising along!
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ August 20, 2018No, she’s still having problems writing with all that red wine hehe.

/ August 19, 2018I love the way you are stitching this piece – block by block. Does it make it easier to complete the backstitching this way?
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ August 20, 2018I’m finding it a lot easier this way. If I have a back stitch or two that overlaps the blocks I just leave them until the next section is done. From now on, there’s no other way for me to tackle larger projects. I wouldn’t do the back stitch section by section if I was working on a hoop but I always stitch on a scrolling frame so this method works for me.

/ August 19, 2018She is the “Headless Shoulder Rider from Sleepy Hollow” no more! Great progress! I’m you’re thrilled to have the people in the picture mostly completed so you can get the full effect when you look at it and work on it at the same time.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ August 20, 2018Exactly. It’s been long project as I like to do other things at the same time as cross stitching but I’ve enjoyed this one a lot.

/ August 19, 2018It’s funny seeing the little race between you and Claire, seems like she overtook you compared to the few times before. Both pretty close to the end though that’s great 😀
