Hello everyone,
It’s time to show you an update on my SAL project today. The design is called Getting Ready which has been adapted from an artwork by Ronald West. This is a Design Works kit and I’m really pleased with the quality of the fabric, threads and chart.
This is where I was up to last time. I’d completed 1/6 of the whole thing.
I’ve now completed stitching to the right of the last section.
So now, 1/4 of the design is all finished except for the backstitch on the right hand part. That’s why it looks a bit wishy-washy compared to the rest. I’ll do that next and then I’ll be working underneath the table on the left side.
Me and Claire are stitching the same kit but we’re doing different areas each time. Everyone else in the group is making something different. Please take a look at how they are progressing with their own chosen SAL project. I promise you won’t be disappointed. We live all over the world so you may need to allow for time differences but we post local time, every third Sunday.
Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina,
Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, Linda, Catherine, Mary Margaret, Timothy,
Our next updates will be posted on the 10th December 2017. See you then!
About the SAL
This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL. If you’d like to finish a project you’ve left unfinished for a while, or start a new one with us, you can join us by leaving a request in the comments below or sending me an email. The address is on the right of this page. I’ll send you a few simple rules to agree.

/ November 19, 2017I really like the glimpse of flowers at the right. And of course, since Claire is working in a different direction, we know what to expect above the waist with those two waiters!
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017It’s a shame I didn’t get time to do the backstitch but it won’t take long once I get started.
katechiconi
/ November 19, 2017And I’m guessing that’ll bring a lot more into focus.

/ November 19, 2017This one seems to be growing fast Avis.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017I worked on it until as late as I could yesterday while it was still light enough to take a photo. The backstitch will be done in no time at all and then I’ll start the 4th square.

/ November 19, 2017You are really powering along with this piece. It looks great, and I love seeing your two different approaches to stitching it.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017I’m enjoying seeing Claire’s piece grow as well 🙂

/ November 19, 2017your version looks like you’re progressing so much faster than me ^^
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017I’m not sure about that. I’ll be starting in the bottom left corner next. There isn’t much detail so it should stitch up quite quickly if I get good daylight.

Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017Thank you. I think I’ll start to get a bit slower now. Knitting is calling 🙂

/ November 19, 2017I think that’s why my cross stitch project is taking so long this year, because I have other projects & my RSN commitments, but I love working on all of them ( when I feel like it😀)
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017It’s good to choose what to do depending on how the mood takes you. As long as we enjoy crafting that’s all that matters.

/ November 19, 2017Yes it is

/ November 19, 2017You are motoring right along with this! I am really interested to see how you and Claire progress on this, since you started at opposite end. I wonder how close you will come to finishing at the same time.
Sewing Beside the Sea
/ November 19, 2017We decided not to even try to finish together this time. We’ve both got smaller projects we could pick up at the end if needed.
