I’ve been framed!

Hi everyone,

Well actually I haven’t been framed but my embroidery has. These finishes have been waiting in the wings for a while but I finally got around to ordering the frames and getting them on the wall this week.

First up, the Narrow Boat from Bothy Threads.

I chose the same oak frame as I have for all of my finished pieces but this time I decided on a blue mount. If you want to see more photos of this work in progress, just search for “narrow boat” on this blog. I thoroughly enjoyed stitching it Smile.

Next up is Pentecost 2 which was a free chart available on the Practical Blackwork web site. Look in my blackwork category if you want to watch this one grow. It is incredibly generous of Liadain to share her work. I stitched along with my friend Claire on this project. You can find her lovely blog by clicking here.

It’s nice to finally have them both on the wall.

I hope you will also have time to finish a project this weekend Smile.

Avis x

frame and mounts really do set off the finished stitching perfectly! How big is the frame for Pentecost?

  2. The frames really compliment the pieces, both look lovely. I particularly love the boat, Im quite a fan of Bothy Threads cross stitches. The castle one is on my wishlist 🙂

Hi Avis! These are both amazing! Especially I love the boat! Have a great weekend! x Teje

  5. They both look beutiful

  6. They both look lovely in their frames. I love the colour of the mount used for Narrow Boat. It’s the perfect shade 🙂

  7. Oh I love the narrow boat. There’s nothing more exciting, other than finishing a project, than picking it up from the framer. I’ve just bookmarked Bothy Threads… I can feel a Visa card moment coming on…

    • I agree. I used to have mine framed by someone else but I’ve done the last few myself. I just measure up and have the frames custom made then sent to me ready to drop the embroidery in. They work really well.

  8. I love them both though I think my favourite of the two is the second one – simply incredible!

    • Yes, I like the Blackwork one too. They are both completely different to make up. One with lots of thread changes and the other all in one colour so much faster to complete.
